Last week my kiddos each took part in a research project for the Kinesiology Department at UT. They are looking at the muscle activation involved in riding a bicycle. The researchers will be comparing typically developing kids with kids who have cerebral palsy.

My kids had a blast – they got hooked up to a bunch of electrodes that measured their muscle activity and then rode on a special stationary bike. The entire session took about 2 hours – they took measurements, did a quick developmental assessment, hooked-up all the equipment, THEN the kids pedaled the bike. It’s all interesting and my kids enjoyed the experience.

The researchers are looking for more “subjects”, children from 5-12 years old. If you want more information, please email Renate (the researcher) at: Renate AT mail DOT utexas DOT edu.
