Gilbert’s Gazelles is proud to announce it’s newest location in Austin at 1379 Family Sports Shop South. Located by Five Guys Burgers at Mopac and William Cannon.
Led by former NCAA All-American and National Champion Bernard Manirakiza, the group utilizes some of the area’s finest running surfaces including the Arbor Walk Trail, Clint Small and Gorzycki Middle School Tracks, and the numerous hills throughout the Circle C neighborhood. Celebrating eight years of helping thousands of central Texans learn to Run With Joy, the Gazelles are excited to offer their tried and true methods of training to reach your goals. The fastest gazelles in the wild first start out with slow, uncertain steps. Just like true gazelles, the fastest runners must also start out on a solid, steady course to perfection. Based on years of experience with a wide range of abilities, Gilbert and Bernard introduce drills, skills, and other techniques to put you on the fast track, focusing on the biomechanics, strength and endurance which form the basis for the Gazelles training program philosophies.
Gilbert Tuhabonye trained his first Gazelles in 2003 when a few local runners asked for his help. But his love of running was forged early as he loved to run everywhere. In his native country of Burundi, he ran to the valley’s edge to get water for his family, to school five miles away and raced his friends – including his cousin Bernard. Together they now lead one of Austin’s largest training groups for people looking to learn the basics of running, train for the Boston Marathon, and everything in between.
