Saturday, October 2, is Wells Fargo First Saturday at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. This means lots of free fun for you and your family:

  • See a puppet show for free, in classroom 137 at 1 p.m. Back by popular demand, Austin Public Library’s Literature Live! returns to the Museum with new puppet hilarity in Strega Nona. This month’s show is a tale of a wise old woman, a magic pasta pot, and a not-too-smart young man. Find out the trouble that comes from learning the hard way that sometimes there really can be too much of a good thing. After the puppet show, stay and create your own puppets, and complete a fun puzzle to win a prize!
  • From 2 – 3 p.m. TEXplorations Family Story Time will be held in the second floor lobby for free. Family Story Time features a hands-on activity, songs, stories, games and more.
  • Visit the three floors of museum exhibits for free, from 2 – 6 p.m.

This Saturday, October 2, all Austin Borders locations will be celebrating the release of the book Olivia Goes to Venice with a special story time event. In her first brand new adventure in three years, Olivia takes her discerning eye for style to beautiful Venice on a family vacation that involves dodging pigeons in the Piazza San Marco, gorging on gelato, and barely staying afloat in a gondola. Head to Borders on Saturday to celebrate Olivia and Italy, with games, activities and more!

The Alamo Kids Club is offering three free screenings of The Muppets Take Manhattan (G) at Alamo Lake Creek. Here are the shows you can choose from:

  • Saturday, October 2 at 11 a.m. – for kids 6 and up
  • Sunday, October 3 at 11 a.m. – for kids 6 and up
  • Tuesday, October 5 at 11 a.m. – Baby Day showing for kids of all ages

You are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes early as seating is first come, first served. There will be pre-movie entertainment on the screen while you wait. You will not need a ticket, just show up and enjoy!
