When summer arrives in Austin it’s okay, we have Barton Springs Pool! Hopefully everyone has taken their kids and out-of-town relatives to this Austin treasure. But, have you ever swam there at night? It’s a totally different place than during the day. It’s awesome! You can take a quick dip and stay cool for the rest of the night. Picture lots of families, teenagers, and diving board crazies all enjoying the outdoors together. Bring your camera because you’ll want to capture your kids’ expressions! It’s sensory overload.
This weekend is a good time to go because you can check out the pool and the Austin Civic Orchestra in one spot! ACO will be playing for FREE at Zilker Hillside Theater on June 11th and 12th at 8 p.m. This is their annual Zilker Park Pops Concert and you don’t want to miss it. Picnic baskets, blankets and wet hair from Barton Springs will make this a very fun night for your family. Parking will be hectic if you try to go right before the show starts. Plan to go early and eat on the hill or pack some extra patience and arrive at 7:30. Free outdoor events for the whole family are just one more reason Austin is a great place to live and play! (Of course, they’ll be a tip jar so bring a few Benjamins to support the ACO–and to pay for parking and pool entry.)
