Try a new park! Mansfield Dam Park is a hit with my family for several reasons. Clean Bathrooms, new playscape, rocks to climb on, shells to collect and a swimming area marked with buoys. You’ll want everyone to wear water shoes/old tennies at all times. Bring life jackets for the kids to use in the water. It’s the lake so you can’t see more than a few inches in front of you and the ground you walk on can suddenly drop-off into deep water. This is also a great place to come without the kids if you need to practice your open water swimming.
After cooling off in the lake we hike around the rocks and watch the boaters unload their boats at the boat ramp. We eat lunch and play on the playscape before heading back in the car for the 30 minute ride back to town. Click here to see a map and read more information about Mansfield Dam Park.
