A fun place to spend time with the kids and/or dog is Pease Park. It’s big enough that you and your kids can both get exercise. If you bring another adult along you can work out while you play. Take turns doing a few sprints around the trail that circles the park. You can get the kids involved and do relays.
There is a basketball court for a game of hoops and another cement foundation that big kids use to jump-rope, ride scooters and practice their ripsticks. Riding a bike is fun at Pease park. Younger kids can circle around the playground while older kids can go off-road on the grass or ride around the trail.
Pease Park has two fun playgrounds and a splashground (goodbye wading pool). There are newer bathrooms located near the splashground. It’s close to Einstein’s Bagels and a drive-through coffee shop called Emerald City at 915 South Lamar that will hand you coffee or wine through the window. The drive through is hard to navigate but it’s worth it.
There is a creek that runs between Lamar and the park. You can find fossils and old hippies hanging out from Eeyore’s Birthday Party here. Always use caution around high water and high hippies!
Pease Park is located at 1100 Kingsbury. It’s in the Old Enfield neighborhood. From MoPac, take 15th Street towards Lamar. Just before you get to Lamar, turn left on Parkway and you’ll run into Kingsbury.
