To celebrate Father’s Day every year and also to mark the end of another school year, my Dad and I join a group of our family friends at Garner State Park for the week. It has come to represent not only my favorite trip but also the trip with the most activities. Hiking, running or biking the trails, playing pick-up games of basketball, baseball, volleyball or ultimate Frisbee and of course cooling off from all our exercise in the Frio River. And with so much to do it was sometimes difficult to determine what we could fit in to our days on the campgrounds.
This year in particular I decided to do my preparation shopping at 1379, picking myself up a couple pairs of the Nike Dri Fit tempo shorts with the knowledge that I could run in them and jump directly into the water afterward. My new quick drying apparel was a hit among all the campers for their easy transition from activity to activity. The only place I couldn’t wear my new gear was at the nightly dances up at the pavilion (tempo shorts don’t exactly go with cowboy boots and two-stepping…or maybe they could). Overall it was a successful trip, minimal sunburn and maximum good times.
