May First has traditionally been known as “May Day”. When I was a kid we would pick, buy or make flowers out of paper. We’d construct a cone using construction paper, decorate it and tape on a handle. We’d hang it on a neighbor’s front door, ring the bell and RUN! Why not try this with your kids this Saturday? Fill the wagon with May Day surprises and walk, scooter or ride around the neighborhood as a family. Your kids will love it!

Wait–it’s May?
School’s out next month! Start planning ahead for the long days of summer. Go visit a nearby public or private school this weekend and use the track. If you bring along some balls & toys or bikes & scooters you can park the kids on the infield and run/walk around the track while keeping an eye on them. I even know a mom that puts up the pack-and-play right on the 50 yard line! Go as a family and get the kids used to it. It’s work the first few visits but by the time June rolls around you’ll be happy you invested the time. Before school is out for the summer, talk with your school friends and make a plan NOW to meet every Monday morning/evening during the summer. The kids will love seeing their friends and you’ll love getting your own exercise in. For older kids, see if you can run/walk on at least five different high school tracks before the summer is over. Happy moms = Happy kids!
