My husband and I found a great park last week. It’s nothing new to the central Texas area but it was new to us. It’s called Commons Ford. To get there, take Bee Caves west to Cuernavaca. Take a right on Cuernavaca and a left at the first road which I think is Commons Ford Road or something like that. About a mile down on the left is a Commons Ford Ranch sign and you turn in there. Drive a little farther to park.
There are BEAUTIFUL pecan trees dropping all sorts of yummy pecans and a huge field right on Lake Austin with a volleyball net and soccer goal. There are also a couple paths through the property but we didn’t explore that far…yet. We didn’t bring any supplies because we didn’t know what to expect but I would definitely pack a lunch or dinner next time and bring balls, bicycles, frisbees, and bags or buckets to collect things in. The park closes at 6pm so you have to get with plenty of time to play before then, but I think it might be my new favorite Austin treasure!
