I had a coach in college that always said, “Are you eating that because you’re hungry or just because it’s in front of you?” We would all get a good laugh out of it after a while because he ALWAYS said it. But every time I pick up a candy during the holidays, I think of him.
I thought of him several times in the last few days and, in particular, when Mike and I each inhaled six candies each. We selfishly took all the best candies from our kids buckets because they aren’t old enough yet to argue. How awful is that?! We stole our kids’ BEST candy!! I felt completely awful afterwards because I had a pound of chocolate in my belly and completely full guilty conscience. And we ate them because they were in front of us and not because we were hungry.
And then we said, “Oh well, we won’t always be this lucky. Pass me another Reese’s.”

Two things happening in Cleveland after halloween, maybe you can do next year. The school has a candy drive where you can donate candy and they distribute tho any particular charity. One school donated to the troops and 1 kid alone had over 100 pounds of candy to give. ( he gathered all his friends and family’s candy together.) One dentist buys kids candy from them to teach good dental habits. It’s all fun to dress up and eat candy for the night, but day in and day out can get out of control!!!
